Sneeze Causes of cat sneezing

Felix T. Cat woke me up a couple nights ago with a sneezing fit. He looks fine: no crud coming out of nose, eyes or mouth, and his appetite is good. Just sneezing. What gives? Haven't changed anything at all (same food, litterm etc). Could it be allergies?
A trip to the vet may be in his future, but I'd like some insight on this first. Thanks.

Was it a one-time thing? If so, he may have just gotten dust or something on/in his nose, especially if he was hanging out under the furniture.

If it's persistent, I'd recommend thinking back to whether there's anything new in the house: new detergent used to watch clothes or linens he's in contact with, new furniture, paint, rugs, etc.

My vet told us that persistant sneezing can also be a sign of kidney failure. But you'd be seeing that over a period of time, not a one time event.

If there's no discharge then he's just inhaled something that irritated his nasal lining. Cats sneeze for the same reasons we do - irritant (dust, pollen, aerosols, strong smells), allergy, infection (you'd see nasal discharge or reddened eyes) and obstruction (usually with discharge).

Did you recently turn up the heat? Cats may start sneezing when the air becomes dry

Cheap dusty litter makes my cat sneeze so bad she'll avoid the litter box.

I don't have any utilities on right now. That wonderful time between summer and mid to late fall where I can get away without running the AC or heater.
Last evening Felix made himself scarce which alarmed me, but graced my morning with his gorgeous presence. He still looks fine and isn't sneezing as much. I think he got some dust up his nose or some other irritant, but I'm still going to watch him and call the vet if I think I must.
I'm not the best house keeper in the world ; maybe this will be an incentive to do more than sweep a room with a glance. Can't have the Feline Oligarchy uncomfortable! It's OK for me be a bit sniffly, but not the cats.

No

Well it must be some mild bug because now one of my other cats is sneezing! Will definitely call the vet tomorrow. Again there's no discharge anywhere and her appetite is good. Just sneezing fits.

Ot the same environmental irritant has reached the other cat(s) who may have been less sensitivie to it when the first cat started sneezing?

Sneeze

Yesterday Leela's right eye started getting weepy, so I took her to the vet this morning. The vet thinks it's allergies and gave me some drops to put in her eye. I also have to get some OTC allergy meds and consult with the pharmacist regarding proper dose. If it doesn't clear up in about a week, then it must be something else. Poor kitty! If this isn't an incentive for me to keep the house as clean as possible, I don't know what is.
