TV Changes Afoot at 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent'

Changes are afoot at "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," with charter cast member Vincent D'Onofrio exiting the USA Network series and recent recruit Jeff Goldblum taking over full-time.

I just hope they let Goren leave without something else awful happening to him.

Goren was always my favorite character. When Noth came to the show, I avoided him because he just annoys me. (I tried briefly to watch him, but the old annoyed feelings came back).

The last couple of seasons, I felt like they were setting Goren up for a big finish, but then didn't... and after Jeff Goldblum's arrival, I figured it was just a matter of time.

Especially in one of the episodes where they were standing in the captain's office and Goldblum was rattling on about some facts and Erbe said something like, "He reminds me of someone else..." (Or maybe it was: "He sounds like someone I know..."). The captain replied, "This one is taller."

I will miss D'Onofrio, but of course, his character will live on in the near-constant reruns on USA.

IMHO, Glodblum's character is a good replacement, as he seems quirky enough to offset the (at times) boringly regular police work that is involved in investigating these crimes. I, too, didn't care for Noth's coming in -- I like him as an actor, but his character didn't add anything to the ensemble. I foresee some interesting plots with Goldblum.

I missed that one, so I looked it up on IMDB: D'Onofrio is 6'3-1/2", Goldblum 6'4-1/2".

Remember when Mark Linn was on as the guy with Asperger's, and after he walked out, Erbe looked at D'Onofrio and said, "I didn't know you had an older, geekier brother."

And although I still adore him as he is now, in the reruns one can also see him as he was 10 years ago, which was how I originally fell for him.
