United States BofA apologizes for flap over U.S. flags

Bank of America Corp. said it immediately apologized for a U.S. flag controversy in Gaffney, S.C., which has since gained national media attention.

A manager reportedly removed U.S. flags planted next to a branch as part of a funeral procession for a local Marine, Lance Cpl. Christopher Fowlkes, killed in Afghanistan. Bank spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said the flags were removed after a "misunderstanding" and were later in place for events honoring Fowlkes.
