Icon24 Women drink before sex 'because they lack the confidence to do it sober'

Millions of British women drink alcohol before having sex – because they lack the confidence to do it sober, a study claims.

Sleeping with a sloppy drunk is not a very appealing proposition.

The article says "The study found that 75 per cent of women like to drink a glass of wine or two immediately before getting into bed with their husband or boyfriend", and one or two glasses wouldn't make for a sloppy drunk.

Of course, I'm a little curious is Femfresh cosmetic brands is really the best source for information on women's lack of confidence.

It also says that 75% of women like to have a glass of wine before sex, not "must in order to copulate" or " are guaranteed to every time."

I also like to have sex in the mornings when SO and I both have the day off, but that doesn't mean it happens that often.

Women said alcohol helped them lose their inhibitions and become more adventurous between the sheets.
Personally, I wouldn't say that using alcohol to become more adventurous means a woman lacks the confidence to have sex sober.

It then goes on to say

One in six women admitted that they did not have the confidence to sleep with someone when they were sober.
While that is still a lot of women, it is quite different than what the headline implies.

Also, I love the use of the term "Dutch courage." What's next, a shopkeeper gypping someone of their change? Keep it classy, Telegraph!

It also doesn't mention why those women like to drink alcohol before climbing into bed - it just assumes that they have a "lack of confidence". A few glasses of wine could make them more open to positions they normally wouldn't do (as stated in my post above), or they might just like how their body feels during sex after a few drinks.

IME, my body feels and reacts differently during tipsy sex and sober sex. Just because I might want to drink a few glasses tonight before sex doesn't automatically mean that I do not enjoy (or even have) sober sex as the article seems to imply.

Remind me to never have "relations" with a British guy!

I think a lot of people don't realise that is a pejorative.

See, I always heard it referred to as "Russian Courage". "Dutch Courage" makes me think of something else entirely.

I've heard Russian courage, Irish courage, and Tennessee courage (referring I assume to Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey).... I just call it liquid courage.

Lack of confidence with the opposite sex? Are we sure we're not talking about Dutch Wives here?
