White conservatives say it's their turn for empowerment

The Age of Obama has brought many things to the American scene -- none more important than the proof that skin color is no barrier to success. But for some white Americans, it has also helped crystallize a sense of dislocation, anger and powerlessness.

"White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to," wrote commentator Patrick J. Buchanan in response to Obama's speech on race during the 2008 campaign. "This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard." Among the grievances: affirmative action provisions that "advance black applicants over white applicants."

Wilkerson complained that Saturday's protest did not win sufficient media coverage. "It's like we are the forgotten people," she said. She says she believes the movement is not about race -- a black man, she said, helped design the Freedom Riders T-shirt -- nor victimization, but about legitimate disagreements with Obama's policies.

Wow, wow, wow. I daresay Whites are far from the "Forgotten People." You notice the "black men aren't all bad, but . . . " there? And the Freedom Riders T-shirts, stolen and perverted in their twisted purpose. Good God

I agree with them, I think we need more programs to help white people get involved in positive jobs like firefighters, police, the medical fields.. I think we need to get more white people into the media and acting, oh sure they always land the "Funny white friend" role but its time they were considered for more serious roles.. And maybe one day, and I do admit I may be dreaming here, we will have a white president.. I mean not in my lifetime, I'm not crazy, but maybe by the time my grandchildren grow up.

Republican Rep. Joe Wilson? Racist, because he shouted "You lie!" at the first black president. Health care protesters, affirmative action supporters? Racist. And Barack Obama? He's the "Racist in Chief," wrote a leader of the recent conservative protest in Washington.

So, white conservatives are now being oppressed? By whom, exactly? Each other? Are they really going to claim that because Obama is President, then they are being oppressed by people of color?

Hey now, just because one or two white people have been elected doesn't mean that there is not still a very real, deep discrimination against them. It is just a coincidence that the first 43 presidents were white men. Now this NON-white guy getting in...well, its a dangerous sign that the white people are just being oppressed. Whilst a white man has been president, no government controlled killer robots have rampaged through the streets, shooting white conservatives with their laser eyes and crushing them with their giant titanium-steel claws. Now that a white man isn't president, I don't see anything stopping the killbot factories from starting up.

Please don't let the factories start building those evil killbots. I heard from my cousins nephews friends daughters sister-in-law that they have problems distinguishing liberals from conservatives. And I really don't wish to be crushed by mistake.

I suspect this might be the reason for much of the race-based opposition to the Obama administration,* even though those in opposition might not be able to clearly articulate that fear.

That's your problem. You are going about this in the wrong way. Instead of wrapping your brain around the crazy you need to remove your brain and let in marinate in a bowl full of crazy for a day or two.
