Default MTV awards: West disrupts Swift's speech; tribute to MJ

Quote:
Even by the standards of the anything-goes MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West's hijacking of country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift's speech at the Sunday night ceremony was particularly brutal.

Haven't seen this posted yet but a pretty stupid thing for Kayne West to do, but awesome what Beyonce did at the end.

Yeah, good for Beyonce, that was a really classy thing to do. She's always struck me as a nice person, and (provided it wasn't staged) she seemed mortified when Kanye made his little speech.

I saw this picture on Fark today, and it made me chuckle:

Taylor Swift doesn't care about black people! Or maybe the MTV music awards don't care about black people. Or something.

Wow. What a douche bag, interrupting Obama like that.

My coffee-spitting moment comes from Swift herself:

Quote:
I was excited to be onstage because I just won the award. And then I was excited that Kanye West was onstage. Then, I wasn't excited anymore," she said.
I have to admit I don't really follow pop music, so am not familiar with Ms. Swift, but you got to give the droll comment of the week for that.

Kanye really is just a big damn blow hole, isn't he?

Kanye West does not care about people who get awards.

I think you forgot a word in there: Kanye West does not care about other people who get awards.

Which, IMHO, is getting to be a longer and longer list all the time.

(Disclaimer: I don't keep up with pop music anymore, so all my examples are dated.)

Ya know, I really, really don't think Kayne West would have interrupted say, Henry Rollin's acceptance speech. I noticed he didn't try this with Eminem. But tiny teenaged girl you know won't fight back. What a doucebag.

You know, when he burst out with the George Bush comment during the Hurricane Katrina benefit, I was willing to give him the benefit () of the doubt: it was an emotional time, and an emotional subject. Now we learn he's just rude and likes to interrupt people. It actually makes the earlier outburst seem less heartfelt and more opportunistic.

ETA: Mama Duck, for more current references, look no further than Pink's comments that he wouldn't have dared try it when she was accepting an award. There's no doubt in my mind she could kick Kanye's a**.

Ah, I didn't know Pink was up for an award. He really would not have tried it with her either.

I'm honestly beginning to wonder if Kanye is mentally ill. I'm not kidding...his behavior seems to get more and more bizarre all the time but his status is still such that he can largely get away with it. Even by celebrity standards his antics are often over the top and can't be explained just by him looking for publicity. Yeah, he's a d-bag, but sometimes that's how mental illness manifests itself.

Pink is someone you definitely want on your side. She strikes me as being very scary otherwise.

Soon after, an apology to Swift appeared on his blog:
"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," the message said in all caps.
The all caps part made me laugh for some reason. I guess the sort of person rude enough to interrupt someone on stage like that would post messages in all caps, wouldn't they?

He always posts in all caps. He maintains a blog that is barely more than a stream of conciousness in all caps.

I wish he was at least making music decent enough to back up his "I am the greatest" schtick. I've enjoyed some of his production work and I liked some of his stuff from his first couple solo CDs, but that "Heartless" song makes me want to kill someone.

I know Kanye kind of stole the show, but did no one else see Lil Mama's own moment of stage crashing?

I've heard people say he's bipolar and his handlers who are meant to well...handle him when stuff like this happens.
