I had been under the impression that cell phones are to be turned off in the hospital because they're NKBSKing annoying. If I'm in a hospital room recovering from intestinal surgery and some mook in the hallway keeps getting phone calls on his Motorola Razr with the latest Pussycat Dolls song as the ringtone...I would be forced to climb out of the hospital bed, putting myself at risk of tearing stitches and causing internal hemmoraghing, in order to bludgeon the guy to death with my bed pan.

When I was in hospital recovering from intestinal surgery, I was actually more bothered by the constant beeping of machines than I ever was by anyone on a cell phone.
Oh, and the guy in the bed next to me. He just seemed to be bitter against the world, and liked to sleep with the light on. He definitely annoyed me.

I've worked around sensitive hospital equipment for a while now and this is not news to many hospital workers.
I think a lot of reason hospitals continue to go with this line is because more people will make an effort to turn off their phones in a hospital if they think they might actually harm someone rather than if the signs said "Pease be considerate of our patient and turn off your mobile phone." Mobile should not be allow in hospitals, especially in patient areas because they can disturb patients that are resting and generally distract people. Most hospitals have phones available at the bedside if patients really need to make a call. |

I should have force-fed him the hospital food instead. (I heard a rumour that if you use your cell phone close to hospital food, that the food comes to life and eats your phone. You think it's true? )

It's perfectly logical why phones won't cause a problem, actually. The monitors for a patientare all hardwire, making them immune, and then we're faced with pacemakers.
If a phone could kill a pacemaker, somebody better tell my mom. Next time she calls me, it might kill her!
