A dog belonging to Robin Starr, chief executive officer of the Richmond SPCA, died after being left alone for about four hours in her car.

I've heard of people doing this by accident with kids. Isn't that why they often tell you to put your briefcase or something you absolutely will take so that you won't just leave the car on autopilot?
Sad. I opened it up all prepared to be indignant that the SPCA chief exec would do this...but I feel bad for her, her husband, and her dog now. They obviously didn't mean to do this. |

In the irony of the situation I'm compelled to say, "D'OH!"
But in all seriousness, it's horrible for anyone to lose a beloved pet, a member of the family, and I feel for her. |

That echoes my feelings exactly. It sounds like a tragic - but honest - mistake. Louie will be waiting on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for Mr. & Mrs. Starr, with open paws.

I found myself feeling badly for poor Louie, as well as hurting for his people. Based on what I read in the article, if it's true, it seems to indicate these folks have done quite a lot to make his life better, so this has to be truly devastating for them. Terrible thing for all involved.
