Default What upcoming video games are you looking forward to?

I was just checking the release dates when I realized that there was a surprising number of "must have" titles that I was looking forward to this fall.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Tekken 6, and Dragon Age: Origins

Okay, 4 games might not seem like that much, but when you consider that this time two years ago all I was looking forward to was Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and last year I wasn't even anticipating any titles at all...

Mini Ninjas. I played the demo. Not only do you play as a variety of tiny ninja, but you can spirit-possess animals and play as them. I GOT TO PLAY AS A PANDA. Sold.

Brutal Legend. Rocktober cannot come soon enough!

Bayonetta. I should hate this game from a feminist standpoint but I can't. It just looks too awesome.

Scribblenauts. You use words to summon objects to solve problems. So, theoretically, if you're in a level full of robot zombies, and you summon a time machine out of frustration and travel to the past, you can end up in the time of dinosaurs, where you can ride a T-Rex, bring it back to the future and use it to lay waste to the robot zombies.

Aion, of course, the closed beta has been most excellent. Waiting on the dates for open beta but NCsoft is behind as usual. I don't usually play a lot of DS games but Scribblenauts is going to force me to hijack my daughter's portable whether she likes it or not. I also don't generally play shooters but Metroid: The Other M looks stunning thus far.

... and now I have to check out Mini Ninjas. Miniature panda ninja?! There is no word for that kind of awesomeness.

I thought the trailer for The Grudge on Wii looked pretty good, although I'm a bit miffed that Nintendo is releasing that here and not Fatal Frame IV

I agree that Bayonetta looks pretty cool, as well.

But I think I'm most excited about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I love Castlevania anyway, but this has Patrick Stewart and Jason Isaacs? AWESOME.

Dragon Age: Origins - I am also looking forward to Dragon Age Origins. I've pre-ordered from Gamestop and have it set for same day delivery and woe to them if they do not deliver on that promise for this is definitely the kind of game I would travel 40 miles to the big city to buy and play on the day it came out. PC version of course I want to be able to get all the cool mods. And Bioware does not make bad games.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves I also just today pre-ordered Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I only played Uncharted for the first time last week but even though the game was criminally short I fell in love with the cutscene acting. I do not confirm or deny falling in love with the character of Elena >.> Also Claudia Black will be voicing Drake's new girl and she is also the voice of Morrigan in DAO, who is most likely going to be my Player chars love(lust?) interest. If I were the type to write cross over fanfiction I think I'd have these two characters meet.

Alpha Protocol - "Mass Effect" styled dialogue and choices in a shooter? Sold! Hell anything Mass Effectish is sold for me. I'm not expecting this game to be world changing, just a fun title.

Assassins Creed 2 - More variety, more free running and a time period few games are ever set in. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

The Sabotuer - Killing Nazi's is always a plus and in addition with free running around Paris, fighting the good fight with the resistance just sound like fun.

I Am Alive - Post cataclysmic survival set in Chicago gives me a single player Left 4 Dead vibe with a heap more story and gameplay and minus the sometimes annoying real life teammates.

Mass Effect 2 - Trying so hard not to spoil myself too much with previews but at the same time I am dying for anything that smells of more Mass Effect. Rumblings show the second DLC pack for ME1 is coming out very soon so maybe that'll hold me over till release. I don't know if I'd sell my soul to get this game but I'd definitely sign a 666 year lease. And Bioware does not make bad games, but I repeat myself.

I'm actually quite excited about the upcoming crop of games, to quote a fellow gamer "these game are gonna kick the hell out of my wallet/freetime"

I'm looking forward to Tales of Monkey Island. Right now, it's being released in installments, but I want to wait and get the whole series at once. The other Monkey Island games are too much fun!

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box and Dissidia come out tomorrow...that still counts, right?

I'm also looking forward to:
Brutal Legend
Dragon Age
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Mass Effect 2
Bioshock 2
Final Fantasy XIII (COME OUT ALREADY DAMMIT!)
Final Fantasy XIV (Got some friends who are vets of XI - we're all going to try it out together)
Bayonetta, and I totally agree about feeling strange being a woman that self-identifies feminist and still wanting to play it (SHE HAS GUNS ON HER FEET OMFG)
Ace Attorney Investigations (OMG EDGEWORTH GAME OMG)
Persona PSP
White Knight Chronicles
Star Wars: The Old Republic (Mass Effect style storytelling...in an MMO!? MUST PLAY)

And probably a lot more. But now that I'm in Guildhall right now, my time for playing any of these is totally going to disappear

My list (unsurprisingly heavy on the RPGs)
  • Bioshock 2
  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Alpha Protocol (coming out around the same time frame as Dragon Age IIRC. Yowch!)
  • Fallout: New Vegas (ETA has to be next year since Obsidian needs to get AP out the door first)
  • The zombie apocalypse survivalist RPG being developed by DoubleBear studios (I know I cannot be the only person here who has heard of this game)
  • Dead Rising 2
  • Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
  • Scribblenauts
  • Blood Bowl - technically already out in Europe; I'm waiting for it to hit Steam
  • Brutal Legend

You get to SUPLEX a DRAGON. A GODDAMN DRAGON. How can one not look forward to a game that allows one to do that?

Professor Layton 2 (or whatever they're calling it).

Perfect Prosecutor (retitled with the Ace Attorney brand name, sadly)

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Guitar Hero 5 + Guitar Hero: Van Halen (not particularly interested in Van Halen, but I can get it for free if I hurry up and pre-order, I think)

Only games these days I can look forward to are DS games and rhythm games on the PS2.

I trolled GameSpot for a while last night looking for something - anything - coming out that piqued my interest. I came up pretty much empty.

Left 4 Dead 2 will probably be pretty good.

Bioshock 2 maybe.

Max Payne 3. I loved the first two games, but what I've seen so far (admittedly little) seems to be such a drastic change in tone and gameplay (being developed with the 360 as the primary will definitely cause a gameplay hit) makes me wary.

As I mentioned above, I had been looking forward to Alan Wake, but with the Windows version on indefinite hold now, who cares? A big FU to Microsoft, as I suspect they had more to do with the decision than Remedy. Microsoft seems to be making a effort to kill Windows as a gaming platform, presumably to push people towards (*shudder*) consoles.

Star Wars: The Old Republic looks good so far, but I've pretty well lost interest in MMOs these days, so I can't say that I'm particularly looking forward to it.

Wolf

Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Do expansion packs count as games? If so, WoW: Cataclysm. I wanna pla a werewolf! Also, the racial abilities on the Goblin are fantastic, almost to the point of being overpowered. I will be rolling on, if just to play through the starting area.

I've posted this elsewhere, but I'm so psyched for it that it bears repeating!

Star Wars: The Old Republic is gonna rock!

http://www.swtor.com/

All ... ALL of the NPCs, companions, and quest-givers will be voice-acted. No scrolling text -- vocal talent.
http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/video-documentary-3

The game is beautifully detailed. If it's even marginally as good as it looks in the previews, it will still be amazing!
http://www.swtor.com/media/screens

I've never been so amped for a video game's release!

Mmm... trailery goodness...
http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/...ematic-trailer

... drool ...

I'm sure you get to do all kinds of cool stuff, but it already had me at shooting things with her feet I'm easy to please sometimes.

It wasn't called "Perfect Prosecutor" in Japan either. That was a fan name.

Hey, I did say "this fall." As in, not games that are coming out some time next year (Sorry, Mass Effect 2, even if some of the previews have been nerdgasm inducing).
