**This came from Myspace, I don't recall reading this one before
If you are under the age of 13 should not read this, and if you do, you should not repost this. Just because you were born in '97 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid. It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the 90's just wont cut it. You're a 90's kid if: You can finish this [ice ice _ _ _ _ ] You remember watching: -Doug -Ren & Stimpy -Pinky and the Brain -AAAAAAAH Real Monsters! -Rockos modern Life. You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!" You just cant resist finishing this . . . "Iiiiiiin west philidelphia born and raised . . ." You remember: -TGIF -Step by Step -Family Matters -Dinosaurs -Boy Meets World. You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. You remember reading "Goosebumps" You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence . . . not when everyhting was settled by: -rock paper scissors or -bubble gum bubble gum in a dish or -daddy had a donkey inky binky bonky. when cops and robbers was a daily activity. when we played Hide and go seek until our legs grew numb. when we used to obey our parents You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record your FAVORITE song of ALL time. "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" was both a game and a TV game show. Captain Planet. He's a Hero. You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green ranger, were meant to be together. You remember when Super Nintendos and Sega Genisis became popular. You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos . . . but never taped anything funny. You remember watching Home Alone 1, 2 , and 3 . . . and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders" You remember watching: -The Magic School Bus -Wishbone -Reading Rainbow on PBS. You remember when Yo-Yos were cool. You remember those Where's Waldo books. You remember eating Warheads. You remember watching: -the 1st Batman -Aladdin -Ninja Turtles -3 Ninjas movies. You remember Ring Pops. You remember drinking Surge, and Tang. Oh, oh, oh! and JOSTA!!! If you remember when every thing was "da BOMB!" When they made the new lunchables so that you could make pizza AND tacos. You remember boom boxes vs. cd players. Making those little paper fortune cookie things, and then predicting your life with them. You played and/or collected "Pogs" ![]() You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet, or Nano and brought it everywhere. . . . Furbies (yes, we hated them THEN, too). You haven't always had a computer, and it was cool to have the internet. And Windows 95 was the best. You watched the original cartoons of Rugrats, Power Rangers, and Ninja Turtles. Michael Jordan was a king. YIKES pencils and erasers were the stuff! All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand. You remember when the new Beanie Babies and Talking Elmo were always sold out. You collected those Beanie Babies. Carebears Gak was the coolest stuff invented. Lambchop's song never ended. The old dollar bills. Silver dollars, which were cool to have. You remember a time before the WB. You collected all the Troll dolls If you even know what an original walkman is. You remember wanting to sit on the orange Nickelodeon couch. You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" You know the Macarena by heart. "Talk to the hand" . . . enough said You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!" You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace. You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground. Before the MySpace frenzy . . . Before the Internet & text messaging . . . Before Sidekicks & iPods . . . Before MIKE JONES . . . Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX . . . Before Spongebob . . . Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night. When light up sneakers were cool. When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs. When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing. When we recorded stuff on VCRs. When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off of our walkman. When checking out drawing books and that one book about the rainbow fish from the library was THE cool thing to do. You had slap braclets! Way back. Before we realized all this would eventually disappear. Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!! Post this in your bulletin if you remember these days . . . . Post with the year you were born in |

Bah. We never obeyed our parents. We were just sneakier about the way we disobeyed.

Out of curiosity, how many Snopesters can still hum the Dragon dagger theme? Extra points if you can name all of Rita Repulsa's henchmen without looking them up. I actually liked this list because I could relate to so many items on it, though no kid in the history of kiddom has ever obeyed their parents. Heck even in colonial days, kids were smarting off to their elders. It's what kids do. |

It's bad enough it's filled with generic things that apply to every single generation, but some of the specifics are clearly 80's or earlier.

On topic: I remember every single thing there except for Step by Step. No idea about that. And I can hum the dragon dagger theme. It goes something like this: "Do...do do...do do do....Do...do do....do do do".

Step by Step day by day....That was Suzanne Sommer's show right? I remeber the roller coaster/park intro

You've managed to avoid the 90s-ness that is Vanilla Ice?

A lot of these seem to cover a rather wide range. Care Bears was more of an 80s thing, right? And other stuff mentioned seems a little late for anyone who grew up with Care Bears.

I don't remember the donkey one, but I do remember inka dinka bottle of ink, cork fell out and you stink...although I remember it from Seinfeld, not from elementary school.
I also remember the babysitters club books fondly, as Hyper Squirrel pointed out. Also, Dunkaroos (although I didn't start eating them until...uh, last weekend).

Even living in the other side of the world in an another culture than most of the people on this forum, I do remember lots of this stuff and it brings back memories... some nice, some not so nice!
I do remember liking Ren & Stimpy and I collected the Troll dolls, as did all the other girls in my class. And Macarena - we were crazy 'bout Macarena! |

I remember when Saturday morning cartoons were worth getting up for, and I was born in the late 'sixties. Clearly there is some mistake.
Nostalgic glurgy emails were much better in my day. Mind you, we didn't have the internet then, so it was much harder to send them. You had to save your message onto a floppy disc (or a cassette tape, in some cases), and then ride your bicycle to ten friends' houses. Then you had to explain that they had to stop playing Asteroids, or Galaxian on their Atari, and plug in the computer, because they just had to "load" this super "program" that you had written. Usually by the time you had explained that they then had to copy it ten times and run it over to their friends, or something really bad would happen to them (like an apple falling on their heads*), their eyes had glazed over and they were already reaching for their slinky**. *10 points for ancient popular cultural reference ** This is because we all had terrible attention spans in those days, caused by too much television and very powerful food colouring additives. Fortunately we are all now much |

I've seen a slightly modified version of this list adapted for UK 90's kids. It has the unusual property of being the only such list where I agree with about 60% and 90% applies to at least some people I knew. (IN this situation the Simpsons references is entirely appropriate due to its later debute in the UK)
ETA: It should be noted that the age limit actually excludes almost everyone born in the 90's itself, and this list is minly about when you were growing up. I've highlighted in green the ones which are true for me. Comments are in italics. Quote:
