Comment: There is a commonly repeated legend that Harvard refused to
submit to accreditation because it should be held as the standard for accreditation, and therefore be exempt. The NEASC has been around since 1885, but Harvard has only been accredited for 70 years, and the Business school lost accreditation two years ago. Was this really Harvard's stance? |

The Harvard Business School never lost accreditation. That "story" comes from a fake news article from the Assimilated Press. The NEASC did its last review of Harvard in 1997 and is to conduct a new review this fall (see this). The Harvard Business School has been separately accredited by the AACSB.
