When a friend died earlier this year, we released Chinese Lanterns after the funeral, which later appeared in the newspaper as 'mysterious lights.' Oddly the police were quoted in the article claiming that it was part of an 'army exercise' which makes me wonder if, 1) Its just their standard excuse when its not an obvious case of someone looking at the moon. 2) The guy organising it neglected to notify the police / whoever should be notified for when you release flying things.

ETA: Oh dear, 39% of people think they were aliens.
