Comment: Many years ago, I read an article in the New York Times attacking the idea
that the letter of the law must prevail no matter what. Among the rediculous examples given was the story of a museum that was unable to get rid of an Egyption mummy it didn't want because some idiot insisted on enforing a law that clearly stated that a corpse could not be shipped without a death certificate. |

What's rediculous about this?
It is a body after all. But I'm more concerned with the unrestricted movement of cultural remains, which I suspect was more of the reason for requiring some sort of certificate.

I suspect the real reason is that the story was a fabrication.

The doctor who handled the case has been retired from practice for 2,800 years and can't be located.
