Not sure if this belongs here or in NFBSK, but the rumor I heard was that many Canadian families deliberately attempt to conceive in April or May. That way their sons would miss the January birthday cut-off for entering school and be 11 months older than their classmates, giving them an edge to make the hockey teams.

It wouldn't surprise me. There are parents here who brag about holding their sons (it's always boys) back a year so they'll be older once they get to playing football.

May their offspring be doubly burdened with the X chromosome.

Most hockey players kids are conceived during late June and early July. With the playoffs and world hockey championships going so late and the training camps being so early, it's the only time that they get home.

Dude, we rule in women's hockey too. I had the opportunity to play in goal against five members of the women's national hockey team. Scary, very scary.
