A school administrator wants to set the record straight: There are no vampires at Boston Latin.

The headmaster of the prestigious exam school took the unusual step today of sending a notice to faculty, students, and parents saying that "rumors involving 'vampires'" had begun spreading through the building Wednesday, causing disruption and anxiety for a number of students.

I'm not overly concerned about the student body, but I'm pretty sure some of the faculty when I was there warrant looking into.

My cousin, the wolfman, went to that school and he said that the undead are rampant among the student body and faculty. The dean of the school is actually el Chupacabra and the head of the history dept. is Darth Vader.

Wow and this is the famous exam school that everyone raves about and compares to the elite private schools? What next werewolves at Milton Academy? Godzilla at Nobles?

um.... really. When did Boston.com become The Onion?????

I went to Boston Latin and can attest to the fact that this is a cover-up. Not only am I a graduate of this fine school, I am also a vampire.

This has got to be a joke, right? Or maybe I've just forgotten how absolutely punchy four to six hours of homework a night can make a person. Or at least, that's what Romulus and Remus used to whisper to me from under their wolf-mother.

I went there, took the test, and distinctly remember a Vampire check box in the ethnicity section. In fact, growing up my parents encouraged me to check said box to improve my chances of getting in; prompted by rumors that the school had a "quota" to meet.

One thing about living in Boston I never could stomach... all the damn vampires.

I suppose now they'll have to start busing vampires to make Boston schools more balanced between the living and the undead.

This whole, but especially the original comments, made me giggle way too loud for way too long.

She also said she was concerned that some students' safety might be jeopardized because of the rumors, and asked students to report if any student is being harassed.

Who would they be harassed by? Angry mobs of peasants with torches and pitchforks? Their head vampire for revealign their existence?

Chris Horan, a spokesman for the Boston Public Schools, would not confirm reports of bullying.

So rumors of vampires are worthy of public denial bu bullying isn't? Hum, I smell cover-up. Of the fangy variety.

Boston Police spokesman Eddy Chrispin said police were called to the school Wednesday after hearing of the vampire tales.

I've got to wonder what, exactly, the police went out there to do. Did they make each student walk in front of a mirror or something?

That was one thing, from what I remember. Though in certain seasons it would have been difficult, as it wouldn't get dark until 9:00 or so.
