Comment: I recently heard that there was a connection between the 1970's
children's show, "Romper Room" and Dr. Patrick Henry's wife, Christina. Dr. Patrick Henry, as you might remember, was the doctor accused of trying to murder his wife Christina (reference book: Deadly Intentions by William Stevens). Is there a connection? The rumor is that Christina worked as one of the hosts or founders of Romper Room but had to quit once her life took a deep, dark detour with Dr. Patrick Henry. |

And all this time, I thought Romper Room got its start as a failed porn shoot.

I don't know about a murder, but there has been an abortion controversy: http://www.nytimes.com/1992/06/16/mo...tion-case.html And google searching "Romper Room + Murder" comes up with this thread. |

That's why the host looks through the mirror and says, "I see Mateus, and I see Canuckistan...." She's checking to make sure we're still alive!

The original Romper Room show was created by Bert and Nancy Claster for WBAL TV in Baltimore Md. The show was sold to other stations in two ways -- either straight syndication and broadcast of the original, or as a francise with each market doing their own show with their own host. There were an estimated 150 local franchises. The show started in 1954 with Miss Nancy (Mrs Claster), and in 1964 the role was taken over by her daughter, Miss Sally. She hosted the show until 1981. There was also a Miss Mary, or Maddy, or Molly or similar name in the early 1980's when the show was totally syndicated and called "Romper Room and Friends".
Mr Claster was not a doctor, he was in the entertainment business --theater owner and booking agent for live acts and stage shows. Mr Claster died in 1984, Miss Nancy died in 1997 of cancer, and Mrs Sally is now CEO of Claster enterprises. So the woman in question possibly could have been a local host of a romper room franchise, but she most definitely was not the founder, or ever hostess on the parent show. |

I've read the book- I may even have a copy of it somewhere around here, and she was on a local Tucson Romper Room type show if not an actual franchise of ROmper Rooom if I'm remembering correctly.
I know that after she divorced him she remarried and at the request of the lawyers was able keep her married name secret at his trial so he would have a harder time tracking her down if he was acquitted/released after only a few years. I think she actually gave up the TV show before her marriage to Henry, and worked as a pre-school teacher after the divorce. |
