Icon22 Don't get married on a Sunday

Comment: I am trying to set a date for my wedding and the date i was after
falls on a sunday and my mum keeps telling me to pick another date becaue
sunday is a bad date to get married on. But i have had a look on a few
sites on superstition and none of them say anything about sunday? Is it
unlucky, or is it just because it is usually a church day?

According to this site:
Quote:
Sunday Marriages
Mary, Queen of Scots, married Lord Darnley on July 29, 1565, a Sunday. From this marriage came the saying, ‘The better the day, the better the deed’.

Until the 17th century, Sunday was the most popular day for weddings in all of the British Isles. This wedding tradition developed as it was the only day most people were free from work.
I'm not sure if the Mary/Darnley thing is supposed to mean it's good or bad to marry on Sunday; I'd assume the latter, given the 'success' of their marriage.

Being the lapsed Catholic I am, I am not positive but I think when I got married back in 1973 to my first wife, both the Catholic's and the Jew's prohibited weddings on the Sabbath. My ex is Jewish. So we got married after sunset on Saturday thus avoiding both Sabbaths.

I do know that the Catholic church don't hold church weddings on Sunday, or even after 5 on Saterday, as that's when they start holding Mass.
