Icon13 No more guns at Wal-Mart

MAJOR WAKE-UP CALL 21 FEB 2007

For those of you who are not yet informed, Wal-Mart has discontinued gun sales at their retail outlets as of yesterday, 20 Feb 2007.

They are currently sending armored vehicles around to the stores to pick up the firearm inventories to return to their Distribution Centers. They are not re-stocking sold out ammunition, and the internal Corporate objective is to have all ammunition, cleaning kits, and any other gun related items sold out and discontinued by the end of 2007, 1st QTR 2008 earliest.

While this move may be a boon for the small town local gun dealers, please bear in mind that both Hillary Rodham and Sarah Brady are on the Board of Directors of Wal-Mart...how conveeeeeenient. Do you REALLY think that they remained silent during the B.O.D. voting?

This was revealed to me today by a customer whose wife is a Wal-Mart Manager. He also told me that the Walton family no longer controls the company, and the B.O.D. elected to award upper management of the enterprise to a management firm in NYC, rather than being fostered in Bentonville, AR.. How conveeeeeenient for Hillary.

This is a move for political correctness from within the bowels of the nations largest Retailer. Despite the difficulties imposed upon the local FFL Dealers trying to compete with Wal-Mart, this will be heralded by the libs as a bold step forward to get guns off of the street by Wal-Mart and their advertising lackeys.

This is just the first step to come in our near future. Please check out the GOA, NRA, TSRA sites for the preview of the filing of a new re-instatement of the Assault Weapons Bill, with greater teeth.

Fight or Die...Pass this on to your 2nd Amendment Cohorts.

I was admiring their new stock of guns on the 22nd. You'd think if they were discontinuing sales, they would have marked them down before the cutoff date to get rid of as many as possible. They would have saved money on the then-unneeded armored car.

Interesting.

Not really the point but shouldn't this be 1st QTR 2008, latest?

So Wal-Mart deciding not to sell guns is a violation of our Second Amendment rights?

Am I violating your First Amendment rights if I decline to debate with you?

That tends to happen when you go public with your company.

I'm not sure I understand the controversy. Wally-World decides not to sell firearms or ammunition any more? *Yawn* How again is this a violation of any of my constitutional rights? Why am I supposed to care?

Look, if you really need guns, there are at least TWO gun shops in my little town (population about 10k). Their selection is quite nice. If you want other choices, they opened up a Gander Mountain store in my work town with a fantastic selection of guns. They will also service any guns you bring in, but please have them "safed" befroe you enter the store....

Besides, I never liked the selection of guns at Wal-Mart anyway. Their guns were like the rest of their stuff, mostly cheap knock-offs.

Order your firearms online and pick up at your nearby Wal-Mart. Guns and Ammunition They carefully note that "firearms and ammunition are only available at Wal-Mart stores licensed to sell firearms. Please call your local store first to make sure they are licensed to sell firearms."

A recent news story, emphasis added
Wal-Mart steps back from gun sales
Quote:
Wal-Mart has stopped selling guns at all but a few of its New Hampshire stores.

[snip]

The reduction represents a gradual retreat for Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer and a leader in U.S. gun sales. Citing insufficient demand, the company began yanking firearms displays off its sales floor in late 2005.
ETA, in a 2006 press release, Wal-Mart said
Quote:
In order for each of our stores to be a 'store of the community' and offer merchandise that is relevant to that specific community and customer base, we recently made a business decision no longer to offer firearms in approximately 1,000 of our locations.
According to news sources, "This decision is based on diminished customer relevancy and demand in these markets," said Wal-Mart spokeswoman Jolanda Stewart.

The least they could have done is put them on the clearance aisle!
