Airplane Japanese tourist spends 3 months in Mexico City airport

A distinguished-looking Japanese tourist lingered more than three months at Mexico City's airport, sleeping on the ground and eating in pricey restaurants, until he left with a woman in a taxi.

I always thought airports were private property, so anyone can be asked to leave. I'm sure thats the case in the UK anyway.

I don't know about Mexico, but in the US most airports are public facilities owned by the municipalities they serve. Either way I'm not sure how that affects whether someone can be asked to leave.
