I want a replacement phone, and I have to look into the T720 - three years is a bloody impressive standby time.

Vanishing

I know that you can leave voicemail after the phone itself turns off but there are two things that bother me.

1.) If the wife "calls him" to keep him up to date all the time, how is it that the voice mail hasn't filled up?

2.) Why pay $55 for postmortem phone usage? Is this considered a normal thing to do?

I guess no it isn't normal, which is why it made the news.

I would assume that the wife cleans out the voicemail by calling from another phone. It may not be normal to some, but it's their way of grieving. My mother used to write letters to my grandfather after he passed away. Grieving is normal, and it seems harmless, so I would say its normal for them.

My question is, does the phone get reception under 6ft of dirt and possibly concrete.
