Default Dislike of cheese

Do black people hate cheese? A friend of mine said the one difference his black friends notice between white and black people is that white people eat/talk about cheese all the time, whereas black people don't. Another friend told me he was just messing with me. Is there any truth to this?

Macaroni and cheese is a soul food staple, though, innit?

Could it have something to do with lactose intolerance?

... and this little bit of a 1980's comedy routine has bubbled to the front of my brain.

That would depend on the cheese. Hard cheeses like cheddar do not have any lactose in them, or not enough to cause issues. I guess it is all used up in the process of making the cheese.

Very few traditional Black or Southern dishes that I can think of contain cheese. It is more of a cold-weather-culture food.

I love cheese. My daughter loves cheese with a passion that is a little unsavory, if you ask me.

But she's less black than me. Or something.

I guess that accounts for all those Greek cheeses...

Cheese is a universal good! Like bacon! Except that stuff with the blue mold in it... or the stuff with the maggots...

My cousin hates cheese, and he's about as white as they get. I don't know any black people who dislike cheese, as far as I'm aware.

I like some cheeses but hate others. What does that make me?

Food that smells of sick or sweaty socks is just wrong.

I'm white (often leaning towards blue) and cheese is one of my culinary passions. Growing up I spent a lot of time with my Grandmother in London, who fostered huge numbers of kids in her 5 story house, all from Nigeria, and you never saw pizza vanish so swiftly

Interestingly, it's the cheese that 'smells' of old socks that is often the most delicious...

When I reluctantly tried some rural organic French Bries & Camemberts in Normandie, with rancid pungent smells, I thought exactly the same. However, it's an acquired taste that when you get it, you rave about it. This, I cannot explain at all.

I'm not aware of any reason why colour of skin would have any effect on whether you would eat/like cheese or not.

I do like a strong cheese, but not that often.

What's the name of that cheese that is coated in ashes - the cremated remains of cheese lovers past?

I don't like the stinky cheeses, but I do like "normal" cheese. I am also very lactose intolerant. The family just has to deal with my stinky butt after I eat pizza.

Unequivocal proof to the contrary:

Hey! Somebody say something about cheese? 'Cause if you gonna make a cheese run, holla at me, dawg!

No, really, Jay's right. It's like complaining about putting soup in your mouth because it's all warm and liquidy. >shudder< It's the nature of the beast! Cheese generally smells of icky stuff and if not it's probably something boring like American cheese.
