The picture however appears to be real. As one of the posters on the Flicker site said in response to this photo: "Who thought this was a good idea?"

Real or not, that image is terrifying. If I had seen this as a child, I think I would have had nightmares about it.

Ugh, no kidding. I may even have nightmares NOW. That's just freaky.

Am I the only person who doesn't see a problem with the dog? I mean, it's ugly, but it's not going to be haunting my dreams or anything...

It's weird ... but the clown has more chance of giving me nightmares than the dog.
Clowns are eeevil. |

Nope, not the only one. It appears to be very poorly made (maybe it looks better from another angle) but it's very far from "terrifying."

I can't speak for others, but my comment was meant to be a little bit of hyperbole...

It's frightening similar to the Carl dog in the Handbanana episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

It appears to be one of these
This one is listed on another page from that site: Ronald McDogald By Netha Wise Sponsored by Mongoose, Inc. DBA McDonalds Location: McDonalds Restaurant, 2720 Iowa Ave. Another link to the dogs, with pictures of some of them. Conclusion: Fake dog. Real photo.

The program is like one they had here in Oklahoma. There were some buffalo put up around the state and each location decorated theirs or had artists decorate them.
It's a part of OK's centennial celbration. Spirit of the Buffalo They get pretty wild. |

When you see it in that context, it's just kind of ugly-but-cute. Toronto had a moose-sculpture program a few years ago, and there are still a few of them around in unexpected places, looking similarly weird and out-of-context. |

When I was in Vancouver over the summer, there were sculpted bears everywhere with different designs. Looked very cool - epsecially Batbear and Darth Bear.
