Seven states visible from Lookout Mountain?

Comment: A sign at Rock City, GA (at Lookout Mountain), claims that seven states
can be seen from that spot (AL, GA, NC, TN, KY, SC, VA). Lookout Mountain
is at the corner of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, so those three states
can certainly be seen, and high peaks in North Carolina can be seen.

However, even despite the erroneous distances listed on the sign, the math
suggests that nothing in Kentucky, South Carolina, or Virginia is visible
from Lookout Mountain even on the clearest of days.
