One-armed judo competitor

Comment: Willowbrook Baptist Church of Huntsville AL has a commercial on
WAFF channel 48 that discusses a young man who loses his left arm in an
accident. He decides he wants to learn judo and compete in tournaments.
After only 4 months he starts competing and only knowing one move.He ends
up winning the tournament because the only defense to this move is
grabbing the left arm which of course he doesn't have.
Not being a judo expert is there any truth to this? I'm thinking not since
no names are any other specifics are being told.
