Fight UNC Chapel Hill Valentine's Day Public Break-up

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=colIeH2snmI
Quote:
Chapel Hill senior Ryan Burke decided it would be a great idea to amass a crowd of 100s of UNC students to witness him breaking up with his girlfriend Mindy."

Ryan found out his girlfriend, Mindy, had cheated on him. As such, Ryan resolved to humiliate her even worse than she humiliated him.

Under the guise that she was meeting him in the Pit because he had arranged for the Loreleis (a women's a capella singing group on campus) to serenade her, Mindy showed up only to find out that she was, in fact, being dumped in front of hundreds of people, who at times started chanting "Slut! Slut! Slut!"
For those of you with Facebook, here is the link to the event invitation (sent out to basically the entire student body) that Ryan created a few weeks prior to the "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" alerting students to crowd at the pit at 12:00 on the 14th... and about a thousand people showed up. After a heartfelt rendition of "I'm Not Ready To Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks was sung, the shit really hit the fan.

I witnessed this epic event firsthand, and it was like something straight off Jerry Springer... complete with a crowd singing "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)" as the girl left.

While I appreciate the revenge factor, I think it is a bit much to do that. There are many, many more mature ways to handle a break up.

Hmmmmmm,
Aside from the cost, why not take her to a game (basketball, football, etc.) then pay for an advertisement on the Big Screen? He could post it as,

"Mindy, I know you cheated on me. You Slut! I hate you. I changed the locks on the apartment. BTW, I gave you an STD!"
Maybe have a camera showing them when the message pops up Just to get here reaction?

BTW, Welcome to the boards, Greeneyes

Frying Pan Couple's breakup plays out on YouTube

It used to be couples broke up quietly over dinner, over the phone, via e-mail, via text message.

But in the age of cell phone cameras and the video-sharing site YouTube, a breakup at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill has played out before thousands: 160,000 and counting.

Well, that's certainly something we should all strive to emulate.

So, I assume she cheated on him in front of hundreds of people and recorded it for distribution on the internet?

It almost sounds like church for slut-blaming! Indeed, greeneyes, this is exactly the standard of mature, rational, equitable behavior we should be celebrating.

I don't care what the motivation was, there's no excuse for such vindictiveness. As the wronged party, he started off on the moral high road. But he has now driven himself down a mine shaft.

I'm kind of surprised that she didn't hear about if there was a whole facebook event for it. Maybe she wasn't on facebook, but you'd think someoneone, one of her friends, would have told her.

Icon202 Students' hostile breakup witnessed by thousands was a hoax

The Valentine's Day breakup of two North Carolina college students that featured singers, hundreds of spectators and a profanity-laced tirade was a hoax after all.

That was so stupid! I emailed that idiot through Facebook basically telling him that I hope the girl sues him for that stunt. He came back with telling me that he had talked with a lawyer beforehand and while he didn't advise him to do the break up, he informed him that it was not a "suable offence."

Such a bunch of a$$holes if you ask me!
