Ponder

Is this the same Jack Wheeler who wrote that John McCain was "clinically nuts" and accused him of collaborating with the Communists?

Whenever someone starts off their diatribe by using "Barack Hussein Obama" I just tune them out. OMG his middle name is like that one dude!!11eleventyone! There's a doctor that calls in at work who's name is also Hussein, I guess he should be fired from the medical profession because of the "other" Hussein. :/

Oh God. There just doesn't seem any point in arguing this one.

What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the
descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships.
Not to spend too much time on this wacko's theories, but has anyone else ever heard of this qualifier on being "African-American"? You must be descended from enslaved Africans brought to America to be considered African-American? My friend who emigrated from Cameroon has three daughters born here; I guess they can't claim to be African-American?

Fun fact: Charlize Theron, Embeth Davidtz, and Dave Matthews are African-Americans.

No. I imagine that's because he made it up. No one tell him that some people who are decendants of slaves are also descendants of slave holders. American history is funny that way.

If I was mixed-race, I would really resent his statement that mixed-race people have no identity. WTF? What makes him qualified to discuss other people's identity?

I feel the same way about the demeaning nicknames and whatnot - O-man, Obamamania, McSame, etc. A reasonably intelligent adult can make their point without insulting puns.

I heard it described as a qualifier for being "black" when Obama first started running.

And a new way of referring to Obama that's going around is "B. Hussein Obama." Typing "arack" was too much for them.

Friendly nicknames don't bother me as much as the ones that are intending to be insulting. Also, Hopey is not a pun. I hate puns.

The insulting puns seem like a shortcut - I don't have to explain what I don't like about Obama or McCain because I have this trite nickname to do it for me!

Yes. As in "Obama is not black enough." As opposed to which of the other candidates?

Also, he seems to be called "Barry" a lot. Limbaugh, for example.

There was an interesting piece in Newsweek in late March or early April about that. He actually went by the name Barry up until college, when he started introducing himself as Barack. cite

I had heard that, but I wonder what Limbaugh is getting at in using it at a time when Obama himself has obviously decided against it.
