One of those hunters is a nercophiliac. Guess which one?

All joking aside, it looks real to me. My good friend is a photoshop expert, maybe he'd know...

The dog looks looks like a Jack Russel type dog to me, my first thought was "who would have one of those around while hunting!?" but I guess this pic might be after they got home and unloaded the animal?

Jack Russells are bred to hunt, although generally for smaller game than the OP.

All I can say is that I feel fairly certain my dog Shemp would do that.

"Hmm, interesting, what is that hard-to-identify flavor in your venison burgers?"

I think it leans towards real in that the hunter is looking towards the dog, rather than at the camera.

Dog

Maybe I'm just naive, but it looks to me as though the dog was just climbing over the animal's hindquarters and slipped. At the very least, he looks to be way off-target!

Possibly, but not likely. The deer hasn't been field dressed yet, not something you really want to do in your own yard

A dog is pretty much off-target when he grabs someone's leg, too. Sometimes they just don't seem to care.

Isn't that the common excuse cited on those "amazing things found up someone's butt" articles?

Don't male dogs usually have their tales up or out when trying to hump something? The feet are awfully far under the hind quarters too. I'm not to sure the dog is trying to mate the deer.

Another thing I noticed in the picture is that the gun barrel is almost pointing at the guy. I sure hope it has been unloaded and double checked to make sure it is unloaded and the safety is on. (idiots)

Is that "almost" as in "Isn't" ??

(although agreed as to the apparent mentality towards gun safety in the pic)

FWIW never confuse stupidity with photo fakery, sometimes the two overlap!

Also, the hunter appears to be leaning away from the barrel. Perhaps the dog jumped on the deer, knocked the gun out of its original position, the hunter leaned away, and *snap* the photo was taken?

Sounds like what my neighbor did when I was a kid. Heading to church Sunday morning there were a couple cop cars in the driveway and I saw a 'body' hanging from a tree. I finally convinced my parents to turn around and found it was a skinned deer my neighbor was showing off to his cop buddies.

Or wooden fence posts. I had a dumb dog a few years ago that would hump the wooden fence posts in his yard. Apparently he couldn't figure out that's how he was getting the splinters in his weenie. OUWCH!
