Comment: Please send this on to your friends, spend time each day
in prayer for our country, and get out and vote in November. Dear Friends, As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . ."we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . . As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation -- and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be. I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation! Please pray for our nation! |

A video with a similar quote:
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/20...bama-says.html There's more here: http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/204016.aspx But I can't get the video on this page to play. ETA: This is another one of those cases where his opponents look on in horror when I'm tempted to clap. I once saw an entire list of concepts that Obama supported, read through them, nodding with each one, before realising that the person who compiled the list had intended it to be critical. EETA: Oh dear me, I hadn't noticed the commentary on that blog. Are people realy that crazy? Last edited by James G; 17 July 2008 at 10:24 PM. |

I have a problem with the "no longer" part of the statement, because it implies the US was a Christian nation at some time in the past, which it was not.

Perhaps only in the sense that the colonies that threw off the British Crown were a part of the British Empire, which was, indeed, officially a Christian nation...

I applaud Obama for making that distinction. I'm sure a lot of people are relieved to be recognized by someone in that level. Bush never recognized the religions of anyone else. If you were muslim you were one of those no good terrorizers. never mentioning other religions, just christianity.
now comes someone who recognizes that the US is not a "christians only" club, but welcomes everyone. and this is a bad thing? it's not like he's forcing those nasty Buddhists to pray in your church or anything... eta... the founding fathers didn't fight for the right to have a christian nation, IIRC it was something about taxation, and representation... not really very theological reasons... |

Then you, sir, are an idiot. Please take your toys and go whine at home. The other children are here to learn.

Ya know, the Christians have been trying to convert the Jews for centuries. I would think the pCms would LOVE for Israel to be wiped off the map.

Or some such nonsense I was once told. Basically, the Jews were wrong, war has got to continue in the Middle East, peace can never happen; because when it does the Anti-Christ will rule and all hell will break loose. Which is why Israel can never be "wiped off" the map. It has to stay in permanent turmoil or "hell will reign on earth". And yes, I am serious. I know several people who believe this. |

Most conservative Christians I know, including the more radical ones, are staunch supporters of a sovereign Jewish state of Israel, and at times, make rather Zionistic statements.

Catholicism is the only denomination I know of that does not believe Jews need to convert to Christianity to be saved. |
