The Alabama state Senate may have been locked down for most of the year, but it did find time to endorse a widely discredited urban legend spread by the John Birch Society.
The upper chamber passed a joint resolution April 10 sponsored by state Sen. Rusty Glover, R-Semmes, claiming that Canada, Mexico and the United States are moving toward a "North American Union" and working on construction of a "NAFTA Superhighway" to link the countries and reportedly destroy their sovereignty. Experts from the White House to snopes.com, a popular urban legend Web site, say no such union is in the offing. http://www.al.com/news/mobileregiste...490.xml&coll=3 |

Ugh... not only is this my state, but I think I'm in this twit's district (I just moved outside the Mobile city limits and am close to the unincoporated community of Semmes).
Unfortunatly, the county is much more conservative than the city itself. ETA: Yep, by about a half mile.... bleagh.... Last edited by Ravenhull; 07 May 2008 at 08:00 AM. |

I sure wish they allowed comments because I am sure they'd be a hoot to read.

He did one, after Katrina, that featured a human personification of FEMA failing to punch its way out of a blue tarp. |
