It's true. All black men on bicycles are pimps. Everyone knows that.

Of course if they are driving an Escalade or other luxury vehiclethay have to be a drug dealer. So avoid all black men on nice bikes and nice cars. That is how to survive the city.

I don't know what neighborhood this person is from but in my (albeit limited) experience there is no common trasnportation among pimps. Some of them drive nice cars, some of them walk, some of them ride bikes of various kinds. The only thing they have in common is that they are all complete wastes of air.

I love how this particular brand of legend (scare legends about gangs and urban life, I guess, or any unfamiliar group) always have little details that make them, to me, extra intriguing. Are there pimps that specifically target middle school girls? Are there groups of pimps who have all agreed to ride mini bikes? Is it really possible that every single young man on a mini bike is a pimp?

I have a mental picture of a pimp in a long coat, complete with feathered hat, riding one of those miniature clown bicycles.

I always did find it strange however, to see a grown man on a minibike in my neighborhood.

I mean I guess I understand, your impovershed, can't afford a car, need to get around, why not buy a minibike?

In newark, for a while there it was quite a common thing to see african american and spanish men in their twenties tooling down a sidestreet via a minibike designed to look like a crotch rocket.

I never pressumed a nefarious purpose, but given the number of people using this means of transport I did guess it was something of a fad.

All the cool 20 somethings ride minibikes now, or something like that. I waited for mention of this in popular culture but it never really made it outside of Newark , NJ that I know of, still it makes you wonder about all fads.

Who was the guy who decided tucking his shirt into his underware was cool, and how did he get others to go along with it?

In the town where I grew up it seemed like it was the trend for very large adults to ride bicycles intended for a 10-12 year old, and smallish teens to ride bikes way too big. I was told that it was a matter of which ones they could steal but I think that's just my mom's bigotry talking.

Obviously, not all black men who ride little bikes are pimps. But yes, the small bikes are indeed a sign that he is a pimp. It is a trade trick of the underground pimping business. I'm not surprised to hear that they are prominent in your city. What they do is recruit young schoolchildren into the prostitution business using their bicycles as a bridge to the younger generation. I have seen a documentary of this on The Learning Channel.

Actually, if this were in the We've Got Mail forum, then we'd be laughing at the comment. I think snopes posted it for people to actually debate the validity of the claim, as he does often with the inquiries he receives.

ETA: Not that we don't laugh at the comments anyways
