Tantrum People who don't understand the concept of 'auto-reply'

Comment: I sent an email to you, after spending WAY too much time
searching and looking and reading your new updates, in short, everything
this form letter asked me to do. I guess I had it all wrong and don't
know what it takes to have you research something, I guess I have to be a
friend of yours or something. Thanks for nothing.

I'm always amused by the comments that come back after the auto-reply. Yeah, a site like snopes is going to personally reply to every single individual comment they get. That's realistic. Sure.

What I wonder most, is haven't these people encountered this elsewhere yet, either? I mean, auto-replies are pretty standard. Even before the internet got really big, you might call a company's customer service line and receive in the mail a few days later a "thanks for contacting us" reply that wasn't personally individualised to what you discussed.

It's not like this is a NEW concept.

Well, to be fair, despite its intelligent nature, snopes has always come off to me at least as somewhat casual and friendly (jokey article titles, sign-offs by page writers, a user forum), which, in turn, might make people think about it differently than they would a big company.

Why they thought you'd know anything about Outlook Express, however, mystifies me.

Comment: Regarding my last Email, I wasent asking about an article.
Obviousy, you did not read my letter. Someone was questioning the
credibility of your site and I was asking for help to refute it. Please do
not send my an automatic response.

Comment: To Whom It May Concern -
I don't appreciate that when I contact YOU to let you know of something
circulating on Obama that your site does not carry yet, you then turn
around and send me an email suggesting that I search your site some more.
That would be kind of redundant for me to do that. I already checked your
site. I'm not going to waste my time searching your site any longer, nor
am I going to waste my time informing you of emails your site does not
carry or know about.

Comment: thank you for your response. there is no sense to asking us to
inquire about items not listed on your site if indeed you are merely
sending out a guide for using your site, which I am capable of doing. I
want to know if letter sent from Cecile Richards daughter of Gov Ann
Richards representing Planned Parenthood decrying the nomination of Palin
is true? Got it? Is it accurate.
Thank you do not send your form letter again

Comment: You sent me a generic response to my previous e-mail.
My questions were not about something that you debunked but about how your
web site was started and who does the debunking. Please advise me unless
you wish to remain anonymous. If that is the case, then you have a
credibility issue, and I will notify all my contacts to find another
source for the information they seek.

Comment: The questions I asked that were "plopped" into my mail box were
specific. Not reqiring the explain away answers you gave. Before you
accuse Fox news of slanderizing Obama, you might want to check you
subjectivity at the door because you reach to many Americans.
Case in point you say the statement: Obama recieved campaign funds from
forign businesses is false.
I asked, did he recieve any donations from C.A.I.R., any arab concerns or
other islamic entities? And your answer is to search our site! Because
this just "plopped" in my mail box! Well it didn't plop in and it's a
question I have to figure you answered by not answering it.
I can't copy and paste this response to you but I will definetly send a
rewrite to my address book, and encourage them to send it to theirs and on
and on. Hopefully your credibility will be hurt or at least questioned as
the authority of TRITH.
God Bless

Comment: I didn't ask about this problem - I TOLD you about it. Three days
ago I suggested that Snopes should look at this and the Snopes response
was that I should check the Snopes web site. Suffice it to say, I had
already done that. I feel that I was treated disrespectfully. And now
that you have done as I requested, you are taking credit for my
suggestion. That's not very courteous of Snopes. You could at least say
"thank you."

And I'm sure that, whatever the problem was, none of our other millions of readers reported it.

Comment: I asked about the email where Obama was asked if he and his
family was going to take the health care that he is trying to cram down
our throats. I got a form letter from your site which did not help at
all. Thank you for your time

Comment: I asked about a rumor new to me earlier today, and you sent me an
auto-reply with the same message about doing a search that is on the
website.

Hey, I'm not stupid. I would not have sent you the message without first
doing a search. The search was for "home depot gay", and nothing turned
up.
