Comment: I have recently received an email all hysterical about AG Eric
Holder stating he does not believe that the 1st amendment gives us the right to own guns. The email is all you have to vote against this and pass it on. There is too much hysteria associated with it to make it believable. Does it have any basis in reality? |

Comment: "Why", does all who print topics leave out what the
"CONSTITUTION" states for the QUALIFICATION of the PRESIDENT and the VISE PRESIDENT. This qualification only applies to the President and the Vise President. THE PRESIDENT AND THE VISE PRESIDENT MUST BE BORN OF NATURAL BORN PARENTS OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!! His father was not a citizen of the USA, but a British citizen from Kena. Obama does not qualify. PERIOD!!! If the truth can not be applied. Then your statement should state you do not tell the truth. Communist News Papers and TV do this kind of printing. Anyone that covers up legal documents needs to incarnated. It goes against our CONSTITITUTION!!!!!!!!! |

I assume the job of the Vise President is to clamp down on runaway spending?
Also, the POTUS must be born of natural born parents of the United States? Does that mean only the children of George Washington (he's the Father of our country) or Martha Washington (presumably the Mother) are eligible to be POTUS? Because I think their kids are probably dead. Also, wouldn't the poster's imaginary standard mean that Mitt Romney wasn't eligible either as his father was born in Mexico? |

Natural born parents? Is that like some sort of MacBeth-esque trickery, where if you were delivered by C-section, you don't count?

No, no, no! If your parents were delivered by C-section, you don't count. You, presumably, can arrive however you like.

![]() Apparently, the constitititution has grown more "T" since the last time we saw it. And what is the Vise President? Is it the person who sticks someone's head in a vise if they disagree with the boss? Auburn "If that's true, Dick Cheney must have had the largest vise in the world" Red |

But he's the father of our* country. And the poster clearly says that the Constipitution says that the President must be born of natural born parents of the United States. As (AFIAK) Washington is the only one described as Father of our* country, then he and Martha are the only parents of the United States and therefor only their children are eligible to be the President.
* That's how he's described, so the "our" is our as Americans, not "our" as in you and I. |

I see what you did there. I'm challenging his eligibility to be President. When he was born, he was not a citizen of the United States, as it did not exist at that time. Martin Van Buren was the first President that was born in the USA.

If we are being serious, that isn't an issue. The Constitution says that the President must be natural born citizen or a citizen at the time of the adoption of the Constitution.
ETA: Actually, Van Buren falls under both "natural born citizen" and "citzen at the time" as he born after the Aritcles of Confederation were ratified and was 5 years old when the Constitution was ratified. Last edited by GenYus234; 05 September 2012 at 06:10 PM. |

Because the founders were not stupid.
ETA: To clarify, I mean that they would have to have been pretty dense NOT to include that exception. It's not like they didn't know the US didn't exist when they were born.

Do you remember stuff that happened the day you were born? I certainly don't.
