My Mom always says if the left itches then you will get money (windfall). Right hand means you will lose money (unexpected debt).

I've found it to usually mean I got into something I shouldn't have and am having a reaction.

My mother used to say, if the palms(s) of your hand itched, you were going to "come into money" in some way or other, but if it was your left hand that itched, it'd be you paying money out. "left it leaves, right it recieves" was how the superstition went.

(there was also a similar superstition about ears/ cheeks burning. it was that if your ear or cheek burned, someone was "talking about you", and that it was "left for love, right for spite" )

I'd only ever heard that if your palm itches (either one), you're going to get money.

Also, when the sole of your foot itches, it means you're going to travel.

Neither ever came true.

This is basically what my mother used to tell me. Left means you'll receive money and the right means you're going to have a visitor.

Hmmm round here "my palm is itching" means watch it, child, you're heading for a smack if you keep that up!

Tia (who can't actually smack her children whether or not she'd like to or believes it would be the right thing to do since the children are adopted and in the UK it's illegal to smack an adopted child).
