Jane Fonda on gun control

Comment: Story seen on a local newspaper message board:

some years back when Jane Fonda was married to her husband Pat Hayden in
Ca. They had a burglary at their Malibu home. When the Police arrived
both Hayden and Fonda each had a handgun in their hands. When asked why
these to very anti-gun people had guns Fonda told police she was against
the public having them but not celebrities and public figures.

Is this story true?
