Comment: There is a "rumor" that Merv Griffn has the eptiaph "I will not
be back after these messages" on his tombstone. There's even a realistic photo at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg...&GRid=20909851 Personally, I think the photo looks awfully hard to fake, but the epitaph is in such bad taste it's hard to accept at face value. |

Why is it in bad taste?

Hi All:
According to the Seeing Stars website, Westwood Village Memorial Park is where everyone who was someone in Hollywood is buried. This includes Merv Griffin. The picture on the website shows the same memorial stone as the OP (though different picture). Ta ra 'wan, Ieuan "Looking down for the stars" ab Arthur |

Interesting site. Looking through the various entires, humourous epitaphs are common at that cemetery. That would be an interesting place to visit.

I seem to remember that Penn and Teller have a headstone there, for the specific reason to be used in a card trick if you're ever visiting the cemetery. You run thru the card trick with someone and say, "is this your card?" and they say no...then as you're sightseeing and wandering thru the cemetery, you come upon the stone that says, "is THIS your card?" and, of course, it is.
I think it's in a book I have somewhere. I've lived in this place for 6 months and haven't unpacked my books yet. lazy! |
