How did this effect the soldiers who were fed LSD by the army?

I used LSD, frequently in the days before decimal currency.
I guess that makes me a UK citizen, and exempt from the draft. |

My response only applies to the US Military and I caveat it with my not being in recruiting command & not up to date on the regs but....no.
When you enter service they'll have you fill out a questionnaire about past drug use and give you the whiz quiz. If you answer yes to the questions, you'll get your drug history taken down & considered by an official that will determine if it was "experimental" or a more permenant lifestyle. If the former, the applicant may be waived and let in, if the latter more than likely not. For hard-core drugs the chances of being denied entry are much higher than, say, Marijuana, but it's still a judgement call as opposed to a blanket denial. I personally have signed a waiver for a soldier that admitted to cocaine use whom I deemed reformed, so it isn't unheard of. I checked around the internet and found this link: http://usmilitary.about.com/library/...lsubstance.htm Although not an official site it's pretty trustworthy. It says about LSD that it isn't allowed within two years. It also notes that about any use bars one from the Air Force. When you think of it, by the way, it doesn't make sense to prevent someone from being drafted just because they took one tab or just said they'd dropped a tab. Half your recruiting base would trip out & miss the war. And what if they had a war and everyone got stoned? When my recruiting guy gets back I'll ask him to quote me chapter & verse. |
