Theme Icon Abortion clinics busiest in February

Comment: Here's a dubious statistic for you: abortion clinics' busiest month is
Feburary. This is when all the women who had drunken, unprotected sex
during/after holiday parties discover the results of their impromptu
unions. Also doctors "know" that there'll be a rush of STD patients for
the same reason.

You're right, it is a dubious "statistic".

Not to give any validity to the OP, but men who have had drunken, unprotected sex rarely need the services of an abortion clinic (though there is a heated discusion in another thread about this.)

And, in fact, men tend to be asymptomatic or have less problematic symptoms of STIs than women.

Actually, I thought women were more likely to have "silent" (asymptomatic) infections than men, at least for some diseases. (I'm thinking things like gonorrhea and chlamydia, but I could be wrong.) I've heard that sometimes women don't even know that they've had these infections until they try to conceive, fail, and end up finding out that they have scar tissue from past infection.

And what about the rise in abortions in April for unprotected Valentine's Day sex?
