Comment: I think you should examine the oh so often repeated line that
"Van Gogh only sold one painting in his life". To my understanding, the one painting factoid isn't true, allthough that Van Gogh tragically and heartbreakingly never made it as an artist in his lifetime is of course true. |

It is one of those 'facts' that sounds good but doesn't stand up when you think about it. The chances that he never sold any paintings (except for that one) cheaply just to get by seems unlikely.

I'm sure I remember reading (can't remember where) that he sold 3 paintings.
