Icon23 Mom reports tainted Halloween candy

A woman whose daughter received tainted candy from trick-or-treating is warning parents to check their kids' candy.

The woman said her daughter found a small blue pill with C-5 imprinted on it -- a pill later determined to be the antihistamine Clarinex -- inside a box of Graveyard Goodies candy. The Graveyard Goodies were just one item inside a treat bag obtained from an unknown home.

There was a news report the night of Halloween stating that a kid picked up an unwrapped (and rewrapped) candy bar on the side of the road and took it home for his parents to check, where they found a razor blade inside it. WHY the kid thought picking up candy on the side of the road was okay, even on Halloween, they did not elaborate on. :x

My trick: buy a boatload of candy then trash the collected candy and replace it with stuff we bought. Everyone's happy- especially the one who picked the candy

So I was under the impression that all of the hype about razorblades and whatnot in candy was all just an UL. For instance, in "Bowling for Columbine" it's said that there was only one documented instance of poisoned candy and it turned out to be the parents that did it.

Is this rash of incidents this Halloween a new thing? Or was I wrong before to think it was an UL?

I had long heard that the only documented instances involved in-family aduleration of the goodies. For the above stories, I would say the cases are still open. I rather wonder how you could put a razor blade in a candy bar without it being really obvious.

I always wondered that too. Not to mention re-wrapping said candy bar.

After reading the article on the snopes main page, I'm even more confused.

My guess is that the whole thing isn't inserted. A smaller piece wold be failry easy to slide in IMO.

I thought it was nothing more than a UL, too, as "Bowling for Columbine" pointed out. I'm confused now.

Still, even if it has happened "a lot" this Halloween, think of all the times that kids just trick or treated and nothing bad happened.

And 35 years later, my mother's greatest fear is proved true.

Now I wonder if I will get kidnapped if I'm out in the yard after dark...

I wonder too if it's happened a lot recently because of the UL. Self-manifesting UL of sorts.

I think this is exactly it. People have heard the UL, and decided to make it come true. Really pathetic if you ask me. I just hope it doesn't do anymore to kill Halloween then is already being done.
