Urban legends spawn outrageous myths that are really hard to swallow

Is there ANYONE out there really ignorant (you see, I didn't say stupid) enough to believe in pathetic urban legends?

Apparently, there are plenty of you — and you know who you are.

I think he'd probably be amazed at the things he believed (or at least reported) were true that were actually urban legends.
Finding, sorting and collating urban legends OK, but a person having a tirade like that about them better have a more than spotless record in his journalistic career.

Some of the UL's he cites are not really all that outrageous. Some UL's are obviously silly, like the "kidney removal" one, but the Mama Cass story at least seemed plausible.

Because I guess it no longer is a disqualifying offense simply to be black (praise the Lord), at long last (in many places) to be insanely feared as the enemy, you have to be black and something else — such as black and a thief, black and a sexual harasser or pedophile, black and O.J. Simpson, or black and a terrorist.

I'd argue that pedophiles and terrorists of any race are "insanely feared as the enemy." ETA: And not all such fears are "insane," either.

And OJ Simpson isn't feared (more like hated, actually) because he's OJ Simpson, but because people believe he got away with two brutal murders.
