Borg "Silver Surfer" trailer has a surprise

Link to story with screencaps

In the new trailer for the Silver Surfer movie, a screen capture reveals the extent of his chrome-plating. The article also contains a Snopes reference, comparing the shot to the Jessica Rabbit panty shot in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

I can't get the trailer to load, but based on just the screencap I conclude that what we're seeing is not really what we're seeing. SS's skin is reflective, the lights and shadows are playing with our eyes.

Here's a handy visual aid:

People are seeing the pink line as the bottom of his right thigh, but it's actually the green line. Naturally, making this mistake, it appears like we see a sack. Sure, there's a silver bulge, but nothing worse.

Case closed, right?

Unfortunately, i skimmed the original post too quickly, and my eyes only caught "Jessica" and "panty shot". So, naturally, being the FF, i assumed it was Jessica Alba.

Now i'm disappointed.

Carry on.

Er, my impression was that the object in question was to the right of the area you've marked off in your image.

Right, it is.

Here's a better explanation: (and Yes, I felt a bit ridiculous doing this )

But, I ask, can his package not hang in front of his leg? Just because his leg is there doesn't seem to invalidate the possibility...

Completely off topic, but being as disappointed as I was by the first FF movie (can you say "completely missed the point?") am I the only one NOT excited by this? As awesome as the visuals in the trailer were, I have a feeling they're going to butcher the characters and mythos even further. Plus, I can see the "shock cliffhanger ending!" (Galactus) and forthcoming sequel from a mile away...

I see. I was under the impression that most people were making a big deal about what looks to be his hanging sack, not just his apparant package. What's the big deal about that? It's a guy in a shiny, skin-tight suit, of course he has a bulge.

Crash The first FF film was fine

Sure they mutated the stories, but I thought the new mythos was pretty cool.

I know marvel fans are used to the all sacred continuity of story, but as Marvel itself has realized, and DC learned long ago, that continuity becomes more and more untenable as time goes on.

Don't think of FF the movie as a shot for shot reproduction of the first four issues of FF, think of it as an imaginative retelling of a classic story, you'll find it's much better that way.

As to the characters themselves, I thought the depictions were spot on with regard to how the FF are portrayed in the books.

People who felt their needed to be more action, probably never realized how little action there is in comic books.

Much like the illiad and the odessy most of the book is taken up with characters talking, not fighting. The FF movie captured that very well, although on the screen it might not have translated as expected, I thought the characters were interesting and well drawn.

I'll agree with matches (which could be a nickname that Ben Grimm gives Johnny Storm...) They changed things, to be sure, but I wouldn't say they ruined them.

Yes, I very much dislike the subplot where Ben Grimm's wife leaves him just because he's changed into The Thing. It was a shallow subplot, and, if you think about it, it really implies that the "great love" they had for each other was only superficial to begin with. It's self-belying.

And, sure, I rolled my eyes at the notion that Victor Von Doom was exposed to the same Cosmic Radiation as the Fantastic Four. But, for the purposes of the movie, it doesn't really matter that much.

Hey, at least we've been spared The Mole Man and Paste-Pot-Pete!

Silas (so far...)

I wonder if the will ever will get to the "New Fantasic Four" that lasted fora few months about over 15 years ago. If I recall correctly it was Ghost Rider, Hulk, Spiderman and Wolerine. Maybe in FF 15
