Check this out, in 2001, from September 10th-11th Blink-182 filmed a video for the song Stay Together For The Kids, this video featured a building being destroyed with a giant recking ball with teenagers inside (likely a metaphor of the effect of divorce on a teen). Upon completion, news had reached the band of the events of the day and they decided to scrap the video and film a new one.
heres the original: (quick side note, as this video was scrapped the director still wanted to use this general idea, if you watch Good Charlotte's video of Hold On, you'll notice many similarities) and here is the version of the video that aired: |

Sure, and the annual Detective Conan movie for (spring) 2001 featured twin tower buildings blowing up. Lots of things became unfortunate coincidences that year.

And the Spiderman movie had him spinning a web between the two towers to catch (I think) a plane. Since the movie came out after 09/11/2001, they decided to scrap that scene.

There were definitely a lot of unfortunate coincidences that day, but I find this one to not really be one of them. I understand why they changed it for fear of upsetting people who were already in an (much more than) upsetting situation, but I see no connection between a recking ball through a building and two planes hitting giant towers.

Its all clearly a coincidence, I'm not trying to argue its not, but i think its a little crazy I mean this was the only video for the album that was serious, if the singles were released in a different order, it would have been a movie with the guys goofing around the whole time. Furthermore, Of all the days to film that video in particular, September 11th was the finishing day. And a building being destroyed with people in it by a physical man made outside force isn't all that different from two larger building being destroyed with people in them by physical man made forces No, a wrecking ball is not the same as a plane, but its still pretty similar if you think about it. |

What they DID do was digitally remove the towers from skyline shots, and add the dumb 'mess with one of us, mess with all of us' scene. [Edit - this is the teaser in question. No such scene would fit in the movie, and he is, at no point, shown spinning a web even approaching that large.]

On the topic of 9/11 coincidences, Grand Theft Auto 3 came out shortly afterward. Since it takes place in a New York-inspired city, a few changes were made: the police cars no longer resemble the real life NYPD, the Dodo plane was made extremely difficult to fly, etc.
