Spit Take Quotes on "American Taliban" have no sources

I clicked on the "American Taliban" link and found absolutely NO SOURCES for the quotes attributed to any of the people featured.

Also, that website contains the George H. W. Bush (mis)quote about atheists. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT HE EVER SAID THAT!!

BYW, who owned American Taliban website anyway?

Okay well then... I was able to find references to about 90 ish percent of them. I couldn't find a few and I didn't bother with the George Bush atheist citizen quote since it's already been heavily discussed here.

Ann Coulter

Quote:
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."
Made on her blog, September 12, 2001.

Quote:
"Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."
Quoted in the Jewish World Review September 28, 2001.

Quote:
"Being nice to people is, in fact, one of the incidental tenets of Christianity, as opposed to other religions whose tenets are more along the lines of 'kill everyone who doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the name Mohammed'"
From her syndicated newspaper column, March 4, 2004.

Bailey Smith

Quote:
With all due respect to those dear people, my friend, God Almighty does not hear the prayer of a Jew
Made at the Christian Coalition's Religious Roundtable Briefing in Dallas Texas, June 26, 1994.

Beverly LaHaye

Quote:
"Yes, religion and politics do mix. America is a nation based on biblical principles. Christian values dominate our government. The test of those values is the Bible. Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office."
Made at the Concerned Women For America 2004 Conference.

Bob Dornan

Quote:
"Don't use the word 'gay' unless it's an acronym for 'Got Aids Yet"
I'm still trying to find a reliable reference, but this hardly seems like something Bob Dornan wouldn't say.

David Barton

Quote:
"There should be absolutely no 'Separation of Church and State' in America."
Well it's pretty much the motto of his Wallbuilders website so...

David Trosch

Quote:
"Sodomy is a graver sin than murder. – Unless there is life there can be no murder."
Quoting an article defending the murder of abortion providers, Mobile Register Aug 15, 1993.

Fred Phelps

Quote:
Various
I'm not even going to bother providing reference for this maniac. Those were actually some of Phelp's tamer quotes. Go muck about on his website if you need any proof of that.

Gary North

Quote:
"The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion–must be denied citizenship."
Quote:
"This is God's world, not Satan's. Christians are the lawful heirs, not non-Christians."
Quoted in his own book Political Polytheism

George W. Bush

Quote:
"I don't think that witchcraft is a religion. I wish the military would rethink this decision."
Quote:
"God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."
Quote:
"Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."
Quote:
"This crusade, this war on terrorism is going to take a while."
All of these remarks were made in public and are well documented. If you really have to have a cite I can probably dig one up for you..

Henry Morris

Quote:
"When science and the Bible differ, science has obviously misinterpreted its data."
The Remarkable Birth of Planet Earth, Bethany House Pub 1972, p. 94

J.B. Stoner

Quote:
"We had lost the fight for the preservation of the white race until God himself intervened in earthly affairs with AIDS to rescue and preserve the white race that he had created.... I praise God all the time for AIDS."
Quote:
"AIDS is a racial disease of Jews and Niggers, and fortunately it is wiping out the queers. I guess God hates queers for several reasons. There is one big reason to be against queers and that is because every time some white boy is seduced by a queer into becoming a queer, means his white bloodline has run out."
Again much like Phelps I'm not going to bother. This is a man who at his trial for fire bombing a church actually uttered the words "Being a Jew should be punishable by death."

My brain is fried from too much Googling... I'm come back later and see if I can track down the rest of them. Cut me some slack it's a long damn list of quotes.

here is the discussion from the old board on this, for reference.

as for who they are, here's the group's self-description

Quote:
AdultThought is a new student/staff/faculty association which encourages discussions of science, philosophy, religion, society and politics from an adult, secular humanist, Enlightenment perspective. To this end, it seeks to counter-balance various brutish, childish, intolerant, righteous, selfish, and superstitious forces which are being used to manipulate our society. It encourages thoughtful individuals to contribute time and effort in pursuit of these goals, even when political neutrality prevents the University [of California, San Diego] from doing so.

Hum. When I try to access something on the old board, I just get a notice that my password is incorrect.

I would guess that your computer still has cookies from the old board, meaning it's trying to log in and can't - hence the problem. try clearing your cookies and loading the page again.

alternatively, here's a cached version from Google.

Thank you. The cookies were the bad guys.

Anybody who wants to use that as a sig, don't even ask, just go ahead and use it.

This one of Bush's:
Quote:
God told me to strike at al Qaida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them.
is still controversial. It was orignally reported in the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/S...ID=0&listSrc=Y
But whether it was reported accurately is debated. Here's an article from CommonDreams (not exactly a mouthpiece for the Republican Party) on the controversy:http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0630-04.htm
