Funny ... this one says Emiliano Mercado del Toro replaced 116-year-old Elizabeth “Lizzie” Bolden. No mention of the OP.

There are quite a few World War I vets still alive who are in the 100-110 range. Amazing to think about, but sad to think that soon they'll all be gone.

For some reason, I equated that with the "Centenarian and the Delivery Truck" myth where a woman nearing one hundred is struck by a delivery truck the day before her birthday by the truck delivering her rather large birthday cake.

I don't know that I'd say 'quite a few'. According to wikipedia there are only 10 total in the US (& 2 of those claims are unverified) & only 35 total in the entire world. The last US woman to serve in WWI died earlier this year.

I can't find an accurate count of WWII veterans but I know they are dying at a very fast rate.
