Ponder Where is your gas cap?

Comment: If you look at your gas guage, you will see a small icon of a gas
pump. The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or
right side of the pump. If your tank is on the left, the handle will be
on the left. If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the
right (see photo above). It is that simple!

Nah, I rely on the arrow that points to the correct side. Six years in the same car and I still have to check. Woo!

My car has this little arrow that tells me which side to fill up on. I find it useful for when I blank out and forget which side to pull up on.

I use this method:
Pull up on the side that the old car's filler was on
Realise that it was the old car that had it on that side
Swear
Turn around
Pull up on right side.

My (limited) experience is that domestic cars have it on the drivers side while Japanese or European cars have it on the passenger side. This has been true on every car I've owned but I haven't owned enough to state it with confidence.

Both our Nissan's have it on the drivers side. Makes it easy to remember.

My Plymouth is on the driver side, DH's Geo is on the passenger so that kinda fits.

Not so much a big deal on your own car, but a really nice feature on a rental!

But, what if your gas cap is in the back, under the license plate?

My Mitsubishi's tank is on the driver's side. In my previous car, a Subaru, it was on the passenger side. I've owned several Toyotas and a Volvo, but I don't remember where the tank was, except that I think the Volvo was on the other side from the Toyotas (of course, because we had a Toyota and the Volvo at the same time).

All of our vehicles have been GM, and they've always been on the driver's side. Seems like I did have one on the passenger side at one point, though...*racks brain*

Or what if you THINK it's there, but it's really on the hood right in front of the driver's window.

"I know honey, I was just checking out the license plate."

-10 pts for reference.

Vacation?

Ironically my car lacks an arrow and I almost never notice the dash warning indicating that I need to fill. I keep daily track of the miles I have left and fill it up before the audible alert and then try and remember to fill up.

My Mercury Montego has it on the passenger side. My husband's Dodge Caravan has it on the drivers. My old car, a Mitsubishi Diamante had it on the drivers. My parents Mercury Monterrey has it on the drivers side as well.

I'm not sure I have a gas pump icon. I have a digital display that says "Fuel level low."

On my Acura, the handle on the gas pump is on the passenger side, but the filler cap is on the driver's side.

I wonder why my truck calls my door a jar. And I have an arrow. I think.
