Default Woman used farfetched tales to scam nearly $1 million

Preying on people's fears they could develop devastating illness, a North Louisiana woman spun a farfetched tale involving government agents and high-tech health-prevention to scam them out of nearly $1 million, federal prosecutors said.

Quote:
Investigators said people were told Finley could arrange a medical scan of their bodies by satellite imaging that would detect hidden medical problems. The victims were told CIA agents could come into their homes while they slept and administer secret medications that would prevent serious health problems as well as hereditary diseases, authorities said.

Un-frickin'-believeable. It almost makes me think they deserved to lose the money, if they believed that.

I seem to remember someone posing as a doctor and trying the satellite trick with breast exams.

"Just hold them out here for your free satellite scan."

I don't remember that working so well, though.
