Magician and paranormal debunker James Randi offered the makers of Pear speaker cables $1 million if they could prove in double-blind testing there was a difference between their $7,250 cables and ordinary Monster Cables. Now, Adam Blake, CEO and co-founder of Pear Cable, has called Randi's offer "a fake" and a "joke."

$7,250 for a speaker cable? Is there a decimal point missing somewhere? What are they made out of - braided unicorn mane?

I doubt the difference would be obvious to a casual observer. In the recording industry, maybe... but $7200 for a 12 foot cable of any kind? Nah.

I think Randi offered to have people "in the industry" do the test, such as the people who reviewed the cables saying that they were so much better than ordinary cables. It's a pretty bold bet on Randi's part and the fact that they didn't take him up on it means they suck.

Before he went in the slammer, Kent Hovind had a similar standing offer. Something like 25 thousand dollars to anyone who could convince him that evolution was true.
And here's the kicker...NO ONE COULD! (dun dun dunnnn!)
