Captured on South Beach, Satan later escaped. His demons and the horrible Bloody Mary are now killing people. God has fled. Avenging angels hide out in the Everglades. And other tales from children in Dade's homeless shelters.

Really weird and sick!
Superstition is alive and well! I remember Hal Lindsey's book from the early 1970s, Satan Is Alive and Well on Planet Earth. A better way to say it is: Satan is alive and well in the Twilight Zone! That is, the human imagination. Satan and superstition do hand in hand. Barbara A. Rainey |

These are kids we're talking about. So while it's certainly weird (as is many things with children), why is it sick? Kids' imaginations are strange beasts.

These kids have made these stories as a way to deal with their lives. It is really sad but really fascinating at the same time. This would make a great novel.

Hey did some digging around and found this message board on the Celtic radio community. Very interesting reading their post. I have to point out the last one on the page. That one had a great perspective on the shelter children folklore. One of the members of this message board points out (can't believe I did not notice it before) that this article was written in 1997. The comments on the Celtic message board in from 2005. If the shelter kids are still talking about these stories they are sure to of changed and morphed into some other story lines.
