Icon05 Churchill giving people the finger(s)

The Stockholm Metro had a feature today about different signs and gestures that can be misstaken depending on where you use them. Among other things they claimed that Churchill used to show a V sign the wrong way for half of the war until someone pointed out that it was very rude. This I find extremely hard to believe or is there a particle of truth there?

The only pictures of Churchill I've seen are the "correct" way round. Of course this could all be part of the conspiracy.

After a quick search I could only find one "rude" Churchill v-sign:

President GHW Bush made this mistake in Australia, IIRC.

Come to think of it, lately I've been seeing a few political figures flipping birds on TV and the net. Could this be a new photoshop revolution?
