Reading Old Farmers Almanac says 2008 will be the warmest year in a century

The Old Farmer's Almanac says it used time-honored, complex calculations to predict that 2008 will be the warmest year in a century, along with a bit of folklore - years that end in "8" have weird weather.

Sure, why not. And the 2008 hurricane season will also be very bad (just like the last two were).

Ug. This year was bad enough. I certainly hope they're as correct as the hurricane predictions were.

If you look hard enough, you'll find that years that end with "a digit between 0 and 9" have weird weather.

Yeah, the summer has defintely been hot and dry....

That is why we have had so much flooding and only 2 or 3 days of over 100 degree weather.

Has been here. We got half the normal rainfall, and much of July and August was very much above normal.

The point being that it's not one particular place you have to look at when analyzing whether the year's been hot and dry.

My wife always gets worked up over the this will be the worst year for (instert bad weather here.) predictions. I have to tell her that those are just predictions. Just because one year was bad does not mean the next will be bad also. Not that she's hopeing she's right of course but she gets so wraped up in the preditcion that she fogets it is only a prediction.
